Anti-snoring oral appliance

Moses Elite: supporting a more open airway during sleep.

The Moses Elite is a custom mandibular advancement device worn over the teeth during sleep. It holds the lower jaw in a controlled forward position, helping support the tongue and surrounding soft tissues away from the back of the throat.

Understanding the treatment

Why do we snore—and how can moving the jaw help?

During sleep, the tongue and throat tissues relax. If the airway becomes narrow, airflow causes these tissues to vibrate—creating the sound of snoring.

The Moses Elite holds the lower jaw gently forward. This also supports the tongue forward, creating more space behind it and helping reduce airway narrowing and tissue vibration.

Loud snoring can sometimes indicate obstructive sleep apnoea. Appropriate screening—and a medical sleep assessment when indicated—should come before appliance treatment.

Why it may help

A small, portable option for suitable sleepers.

01

Reduces tissue vibration

Supporting the jaw and tongue forward can enlarge the space behind the tongue and reduce the vibration that produces snoring.

02

Custom fitted

The Moses Elite is made from individual dental records for controlled retention, jaw positioning and adjustability.

03

Quiet and portable

There is no motor, mask or power supply, making the appliance discreet and convenient for travel.

04

Gradually adjustable

Mandibular advancement can be titrated step by step to balance symptom improvement, comfort and side effects.

Suitability

Who may be considered?

A dental examination and appropriate sleep assessment help determine whether an appliance is safe and suitable.

Common indications

  • Primary snoring without obstructive sleep apnoea
  • Selected mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnoea
  • Patients unable to tolerate CPAP after medical review
  • Patients seeking a portable alternative where medically appropriate
  • Adequate healthy teeth or implant support to retain an appliance
  • A jaw joint and bite that can tolerate mandibular advancement

Assessment matters

  • Loud snoring with choking, gasping or witnessed pauses requires sleep-apnoea screening
  • Severe sleep apnoea may require CPAP or other medical management
  • Jaw discomfort, salivation or dry mouth may occur initially
  • Long-term use can gradually change tooth position or the bite
  • Regular dental reviews and appliance maintenance are needed
  • Treatment effectiveness may need confirmation with follow-up sleep testing

What to expect

From sleep screening to careful adjustment.

  1. 01

    Screen and refer

We review snoring, daytime sleepiness, witnessed breathing pauses, health history and risk factors. A medical assessment or sleep study may be needed first.

  2. 02

    Dental assessment

Teeth, gums, restorations, jaw joints, bite and available movement are examined to confirm that an appliance can be supported safely.

  3. 03

    Digital records

Scans and a jaw-position record are used to construct the custom Moses Elite device.

  4. 04

    Fit and titrate

The appliance is checked for fit and comfort, then advanced gradually rather than moving the jaw fully forward immediately.

  5. 05

    Review and verify

We monitor symptoms, appliance condition, teeth, bite and jaw joints. Medical follow-up or repeat sleep testing may be advised to confirm effectiveness.

Personalised dental care

Start with an assessment—not an assumption.

Snoring should not be assumed to be harmless. Seek medical assessment if there are witnessed breathing pauses, choking during sleep, marked daytime sleepiness, morning headaches or cardiovascular risk factors.
